The adidas Tang jacket reimagines the classic three stripe track top through the lens of the tangzhuang, a traditional Chinese garment silhouette rooted in Qing dynasty tailoring. In place of a zipper, the front closes with pankou, hand knotted frog closures that have anchored Chinese garment making for centuries. A structured standing collar replaces the standard fold down collar, and the body is finished in a soft, suede like fabric with a naturally faded, mottled texture.
 
Originally released as part of adidas Originals' Lunar New Year collection, the jacket sold out almost immediately across mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and quickly became one of the most searched pieces in sportswear this year. Editors and stylists picked it up internationally, and secondary market prices climbed well above retail as the piece became increasingly difficult to find outside Greater China.
This is the Collegiate Burgundy colorway, a deep, warm red with cream stripes and cream pankou knots. The trefoil sits embroidered at the left chest, with ribbed cuffs and hem and a relaxed, gender neutral fit true to adidas' UNITEFIT sizing.
