It’s the 20th anniversary of the New Balance 991. The premier Made In England runner appears to be going pound for pound with its 992 sibling, which has had a lot of airtime since returning last year. 
A premium runner deserves premium materials, so there is plenty of fine suede across the upper, while darker grey mesh is inserted in the toe box, ankle collar, and rear quarter. One particular feature of UK-made NB is the very supple microfibre lining, which needs to be felt to be believed. And this all sits atop an ABZORB midsole – the 991 visibly introduced the squishy stuff to the forefoot. The 991 Made in London is a must for any New Balance Sneaker collector or fan.
